I Was Going To … But Life Got In The Way

December 4, 2017 by Mikki 22 Comments

At the beginning of November, I sat down with my planner and started to make notes of what recipes I wanted to make, what ‘healthy lifestyle’ posts I wanted to write, and what fun crafts I wanted to make and share with you all. I color coded my ideas, set the dates, and had a wonderful vision of what my November and December blogging months were going to be. It was a wonderful moment in life… yet here I sit.. none of the above accomplished and now I am writing a post to you titled “I Was Going To… But Life Got In The Way.”

To be honest, I beat myself up about this for quite awhile.

Actually I still am a bit, but I’m slowly letting go. I have to. It’s going to drive me crazy. I have to admit that I can’t do everything and that’s OK. The holidays are here. I have family visiting.. and if I let the stress of all that I WANT to do but can’t get to me… I’ll miss all the wonderful things this time of year brings… and I definitely don’t want that.

So, grab a cup of coffee, and a delicious scone, and join me as I share some of the things I was going to… but life got in the way.

I Was Going To…

Show you how I make really delicious, and easy, gluten-free stuffing mix.

Using some of your favorite gluten-free bread, some butter-flavored coconut oil, and some delicious herbs, you can make your very own gluten-free stuffing for the holidays.

Stay tuned for this recipe.. I will eventually post it!

I Was Going To…

write a great post giving you great ideas of how to reduce stress through the holidays.

Which, as I sit here typing out this post, makes me laugh.

I will be sharing in a few days, a great post that a fellow blogging friend had written about reducing stress though. I’m personally taking notes for myself and putting them into action.

I Was Going To….

share this awesome recipe for Jackfruit Chili with you..

The spices and herbs to this recipe came together fantastically. So fantastically, that my family ate it up before I could take more photos of the finished project. LOL. So, I’ll be posting this recipe after the first of the year.

Again.. stay tuned.

I Was Going To..

put together a gift guide of all my favorite ‘healthy living’ products before Black Friday so that you could get the best deals on a great healthy lifestyle.

There’s always next year right?

I Was Going To…

have life completely in order and ready for the holidays, yet here I am. A little in order, not so organized, but enjoying life anyways.

My mom, who lives a few hundred miles away, was here to visit for three weeks and I was able to really enjoy spending time with her.

I decorated my home for Christmas, spent an evening at a jazz concert with friends, and have enjoyed visiting local craft markets and shops to do some shopping.

I Was Going To…

stress about not being able to keep up with all the I had planned out, but then I realized that’s not what is important.

What is important is spending time with those you love dearly…

Stopping and enjoying all that is this holiday season…

Eating some sweets and enjoying the sights…

I was going to do a lot of things, but life got in the way… and that’s OK!

Come Hang Out With Me

I do have some blog posts scheduled through out the rest of the month, but a lot of my interaction for the rest of the month will be mostly on social media.

Come hang out with me on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. I’d love to hear from you, chat with you, and see all the different ways you are enjoying the holidays.

I’ll be back blogging for sure, BIG TIME in 2018, I’ve got a lot of things planned….

Don’t worry, I penciled them all in… an eraser is a beautiful thing…

So stay tuned!

Yea, it will do that. But just stop and take a breath. Look at what is really important and then bag the rest of the stuff. LOL! It will be over before we know it and we need to make some memories!

I love this post. I’ve been overwhelmed the last couple days. A lot of “I was going to’s” coming from here, too. Ah well, there’s always next year!

Yes Rachel. That’s one thing I keep telling myself. My mom isn’t always going to be here and spending time with her is more important then get a blog post done.

Oh man, I can SO RELATE! I used to post 3x a week every single week and now I’ve cut back to once or twice a week for the most part. There’s just too much going on!

Oh Liz, I was aiming for that too, but the more I read and learn, I’m starting to see that one or two posts a week are just fine. We’ll find the balance eventually right? lol!

We only have as much time as we have. I can definitely relate, There’s always more I want to do. I actually have to schedule in my down time to make sure I’m not just going going with no rest. Those sound like great posts, but I’m sure the life you experienced was also great :).

One of the best decisions I’ve made this year was giving up the guilt and frustrations with the I’m going tos. Seriously, like a weight was lifted off my shoulders. Interestingly, priorities became even more clear.
